Intikhab Alam asks Broad to apologise for his remarks LAHORE: Pakistan cricket coach Intikhab Alam asked International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee Chris Broad to apologise to his country and team over his “appalling” allegations after a terror-attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers and match officials in Lahore earlier this month.

“The attack on the cricketers in Lahore was a highly unfortunate incident,” Intikhab said in an interview.

“We all condemn it. It was a gruesome attack that has left all of us in mourning,” he said referring to last week’s attacks that killed six people, mostly policemen, and left several Sri Lankan players injured.

“But I must say that I was hurt by Chris Broad’s appalling allegations against Pakistan as well as our cricket team after the incident. He (Broad) must apologise for those comments,” said Intikhab, a former Pakistan Test captain.

Intikhab said such allegations were extremely painful for him and his players. “How can anybody say such a thing,” he said.

“I mean it’s such a wild allegation. I think Mr. Broad is an experienced official and should know what he is talking about. He should know that all teams are given a timetable for commuting and we also had one and were following it on that day too.”

“The ICC should take this issue very seriously and should ask Mr. Broad to apologise to Pakistan for his comments that have hurt us deeply,” he concluded.
